Lotton Ranch East

Nearest Town, Chadron, Nebraska
785 acres
Lori Lotton and her family moved to Crawford, NE over 25 years ago. Originally cattle ranchers in rural Montana, the ranching lifestyle runs through the blood of the Lotton family. Now located in the remote countryside of the Sandhills, the Lotton Ranch offers a peaceful escape from people and welcomes you into a mule deer’s paradise.

There is no timber or treelines on the property. However, the three local reservoirs and water tank, along with the rolling hay bottoms that are grass/alfalfa mix, provided a playground for wildlife. The land is only grazed during the summer months and left idle from November 1st through the end of May, allowing wildlife to explode throughout the property. This wildlife includes a mule deer, antelope, coyotes, and plenty of prairie dogs. The property is cross-fenced and the deer are most frequently found just north of the fence.

Crawford, NE is just 25 miles away and offers lodging arrangements. Chadron also offers lodging arrangements and is 30 miles away. Tent camping and small trailers are allowed on the property. However, due to the soil type it is not accessible to an RV. This soil is heavy and ‘gumbo-like’ so when it starts to rain, we recommend finding shelter. Recreators may have access to a shop on the property for protection during emergencies.

There is no set minimum or maximum number of days when booking. If necessary, an ATV can be used to retrieve game out in the field. The cell service on this property is very spotty and only accessible in a few locations.

We are looking forward to sharing our property with you, but ask you to please respect the land as if it were your own.

Lori was great to work with. She answered all my questions and was punctual in her responses. My father and I hunted this property in 2023 for antelope for five days. We saw antelope on the property every day. Saw a few decent bucks on the property and several other's in the surrounding area. I was unsuccessful in filling my permit but that was not due to the property or poor antelope numbers. I recommend this place for anyone looking for an honest host and good property to hunt.

The property worked out well for antelope. There appeared to be a good population on the property and in the general area. We saw 4 good bucks on the property the first day and 3 or 4 more on the neighboring properties. We did not see any deer in the area. Lori was very accommodating and easy to work with. I appreciate her opening up the property to hunting.

Our family would definitely be eager to welcome Larry and his son back to hunt again. They were respectful to the property and I appreciated the honest communication. I am glad they were able to harvest an antelope and we hope to host them again in the future.

We ourselves are not avid hunters, but we are landowners and like to share our assets with those who are not landowners and like to hunt. We particularly like to see young people enjoying the land, and learning respect for what is out there in our great country.
