Maple Creek Canyon
Only an hour from Omaha, Lincoln, or Norfolk, Nebraska, Paul & Valerie at Maple Creek Canyon welcome you to escape the city and get lost in dramatic private prairie lands, secluded woodlands, and deep canyons that are rare to find in eastern rural Nebraska.
Originally purchased 18 years ago, these 135 acres of wilderness have been preserved for the purpose of sharing extraordinary beauty of nature which is especially unique for Eastern Nebraska. Varying throughout a network of canyons, wild grasslands, and sections of forest, this land has something to offer anyone.
With steep canyon walls and rugged terrain making up most of the topography, my wife and I have worked hard to build trails throughout the property for visitors to easily access and enjoy all that the land has to offer. These trails trickle across the fields & woodlands, around the the top rim of canyon walls, and down into Maple Creek Canyon, offering a plethora of options for recreational activities.
With cropland surrounding the preserved wilderness, deer are frequently drawn to the area. Meanwhile, a healthy population of wild turkeys frolic about the fields, offering the potential for great success in the hunting season. We feature tree stands off & on, and hunters are encouraged to bring their own.
In addition, private tours, hiking, photograph, birding groups, fire pit rentals, and retreats are available at Maple Creek Canyon. We invite you to enjoy a private native Nebraska habitat and are happy to accommodate various arrangements.
Maple Creek Canyon is a drug-free and alcohol-free propleery. We hope that our visitors will care for and respect the land as much as we do and leave it the way it was found. Please inquire about availability of overnight lodging on location at Maple Creek Canyon. Schuyler is only 13 miles away on a 4-lane highway, with a variety of friendly overnight lodging and dining accommodations.
While visiting Maple Creek Canyon I saw signs of deer everywhere. Scrapes, rubs, beaten paths, were scattered all over the property. The Maple Creek running through the middle of the property offers a great source of water during the drought we are experiencing.

Very nice piece of property with creek running through it Paul was very helpful with property layout the property has lots of good sign for deer holding up in and traveling through shot a decent 9 opening morning and my friend saw 6 different bucks that she couldn't get a shot at because of the brush and chasing does otherwise great piece of hunting property forsure!
Reviewed by Guest on November 2022It amazes me to witness the skill level of various guests at Maple Creek Canyon. God gives each hunter special gifts. On the day before the Nebraska Whitetail rifle opener, I was giving an extensive guided tour of our complex terrain opertunities. Jade carefully scrutinized each site, instantly scrambling to the top of a tall tree, with no climbing gear, to scope things out. Sure enough, 15 minutes before the sun peaked over the horizon on opening day, Jade had bagged a very handsome buck from his perch, high in a tree overlooking the canyon.
Reviewed by Landowner on November 2022 Paul has a great place. Ive been out a couple of times and have seen numerous turkeys. Ive seen quite a few mature gobblers and numerous jakes. I had several opportunities to harvest a bird , but have not sealed the deal yet. I will be back for sure. Paul is very helpful and goes above and beyond to help you in anyway he can.

My friend and I traveled from NY to Nebraska to turkey hunt at Maple Creek. Paul was great on keeping me informed of the turkey population and what the birds tend to do in the area. Paul was also receptive to our hunting strategies and willing to give us a layout of the land. My friend and I were able to harvest two long beards and a Jake. It appears the turkeys are a young population with great potential for the next few years. Overall, my experience at Maple Creek Canyon was excellent and expectations were met.
Reviewed by Guest on April 2022Mark and Mason are two avid hunters who drove all the way from New York to Maple Creek Canyon, hoping to get a shot at the beautiful variety of Nebraska turkeys at Maple Creek Canyon. I gave them a complete 8 mile tour on Friday afternoon. But they didn’t want me driving in too far so as not to spook the birds. We could see several wild turkeys from a distance. Early Saturday morning these able-bodied young men quietly hiked in the dark to a remote area where the turkeys roost. At sunup, my wife and I heard 3 pops. A few minutes later I received the following message: “We are very grateful for this opportunity to hunt you’re beautiful land. The limit is three turkeys per person in Nebraska. There are definitely a lot of birds on you’re property. It was an amazing hunt. I killed two male turkeys and mason killed one. We are headed west to try to find some more to hunt.”

Was a awesome location. Tons of animals moving. Paul was a great host. Had cameras out to let us know daily where deer where at.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2022Eric and his 17-year-old son were very respectful and friendly during their 6 day bow hunt for Whitetail Deer at Maple Creek Canyon. Since they stayed in our Grand Design Camper right on the property, they got to know the topography and habitat really well. They donned waterproof boots, strapped portable tree stands on their backs, and stalked game all over our rugged terrain. It was fun watching them on our game cameras, chasing a coyote that was chasing a deer. The best part was witnessing their tight father-son relationship. LandTrust brings us quality hunters of exemplary character. We are honored to offer the unique experience of a week-long Maple Creek Canyon adventure in Eastern Nebraska!

Good property, plenty of game, just couldn’t get a mature buck to present me an opportunity of a harvest. North property is a little difficult to get to as well as the west side of the creek. Paul was great to work with and will most likely be back.
