The Schaeffer Hardy Ranch is an incredible Sandhills property offering something for all outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you like to hunt, fish, bird watch, stargaze, or just enjoy the outdoors, you will get your fill on this easy-to-access property.
The ranch is home to two creeks, the Calf Creek to the South and the Cow Creek to the North, and is only 3/4 of a mile from the North Loup River. The various dams, gravel pits, and water holes make the property a hot spot for both fishing and waterfowl hunting. Catching bass up to seven pounds isn't unheard of in our stocked ponds and lakes!
During the migration season, the ranch is a stopping point for geese, cranes, swans, and other migratory birds. Year-round both native and upland birds like grouse, doves, and pheasants can be found across the property. A professional birder with the US Fish & Wildlife once said he saw more birds here than any other property he has ever been on.
Small to medium-sized herds of mule deer call the ranch home during the fall. Larger populations of whitetail spend their time in the area. Both can be expected to be found on the field of irrigated alfalfa on the ranch or in the numerous tree groves. Turkeys work their way up to the property from the nearby North Loup River.
The annual "Nebraska Star Party" takes place not far from this ranch which proves how great the stargazing can be from this property.

Can't say enough good things about Orrin, Becca & family! Wonderful people who far exceeded our expectations. Gave us a tour of property the day before hunt and answered every question we had. Our hunting group consisted of four 70 year old guys and the Schaeffer's made us feel right at home. Had a great hunt with 3 good deer killed.

Had a pretty good trip. Weather wasn't the best. Felt like we were at the beach. We still heard and seen some birds. They have a nice place. Killed on gobbler.

Had a great day grouse hunting. Found a few few but in typical late season fashion, they were very jumped. Great habitat! Orrin was very flexible in finding a time for me to get up here between weather events. He was very communicative. I look forward to hunting this property next season.

First of all, we had an absolute blast. It took us a bit to figure out the lay of the land where the coyotes would be and when they would be there but soon as we kinda figured that out we had plenty of coyotes around And Orrin was right there to meet us when we got there and gave us great tips, was very friendly, and was willing to help us out at any time. Great place to hunt coyotes!
