Teigen Ranch
The Teigen Ranch is a family ranching operation, home to classic western hunting opportunities in Central Montana. The ranch is located in between Grass Range and Winnett, and offers just under 3,000 acres of wide open grasslands, hay fields, creekbottom, and pines.
The property is split by Montana Highway 200, which is also a boundary for the big game hunting districts. The acreage north of the highway, about 1,000 acres, represents GMU 410 for elk and deer and GMU 481 for antelope. The acreage south of the highway, about 1,900 acres, represents GMU 411 for elk and deer and GMU 420 for antelope. The property also has ground in both Petroleum and Fergus County.
In addition to our private acres, we share multiple borders with State, BLM, and Block Management lands, which is good for additional access and for public pressure pushing wildlife onto the ranch.
The McDonald Creek, which is located on our acreage south of the highway, is a highly productive area for hunting, in addition to the timbered foothills that can be found south of the creek.
RV and tent camping is available to add on to your packages. Lodging in our airbnb/vrbo may be available in the future.

I saw several antelope and a few muleys while out at the Teigen Ranch. In speaking with Sarah and Kahle, wildlife is common traveling across the open ground, milling near the creek, and finding cover in the trees.

We were so worried about how this hunt would go. This was the best hunt I have had in 30 years.Never been to the area so had no idea what to expect. . The property has lots of terrain from the brushy scattered trees along the river to the ridges with some rugged draws leading down to the river bottom. LOTS of animals. We saw one of the largest whitetails I have ever seen. There were deer just about anywhere we hunted on the property. Our hunting was confined to area 411 as mule deer was our target species. We easily saw more than 10 bucks every day but had to work to get into gun range. We did not have elk tags but I did see 4 very respectable 5 point or better bulls. The owners were totally helpful but not at all intrusive. We rented the old farm house on the property and found it to be perfect for our needs. Large kitchen with a big table in the middle. All of the beds were very comfortable. House was warm and quiet even during some high winds. I think the best reference I can give is to say that we are hopeful to be able to hunt this property many times in the future. Many thanks to the owners for being so good to us.
Reviewed by Guest on November 2024SDSarah & Kahle DDavid, his son and grandson came out to the Teigen Ranch for their deer hunts this year. They all had successful harvests and went above and beyond in doing so. Asked all the necessary questions to assure they were respecting our rules and regulations. They created a family atmosphere that made us feel completely comfortable with them being here and we would absolutely have them back if they wanted to come.
