The main focus of the ranch is hay production with some additional cattle grazing. The terrain is mostly comprised of wide open terraces with partially wooded draws between fields. The hay grounds are a grass and alfalfa mix, which both cattle and wildlife enjoy immensely. The draws provide both cover through timber and water through a series of springs that have been captured in stock tanks allowing animals to have a comfortable place to bed down. Depending on the season, weather and luck we tend to have healthy numbers of antelope, deer and elk that will choose to spend some of their time on our property.

We border state land (320 acres) that can be hunted in conjunction with our property, however no vehicular traffic is allowed on the state property. Furthermore, one of the main western side access points to public land in the Crazy Mountains is only about 6 miles away.

There is some limited fishing in a small creek below the cabin that you would be welcome to take advantage of while you are staying here.

We are in hunting district 315 for Deer & Elk, and 339 for Antelope.

The layout of this ranch makes it extremely huntable. The alfalfa fields are on a plateau, making it easy to get into position as deer/elk move up the draws towards the fields to feed. I did see a small group of antelope near the NE corner of the property as well.

Felix was a fantastic host and this property was a joy to hunt. Tons of game animals and had plenty of opportunity for a successful harvest. Getting within archery range was a challenge and the only reason I went home empty handed. Will definitely book with Felix again. Great experience

I booked and hunted this property with my 2 sons. Everything was a breeze. The property was absolutely stunning and an excellent spot to hunt. We saw more animals then expexted and all 3 of us harvested beautiful animals. The hosts could not have been nicer and any more helpful. Cabin was absolutely perfect. An excellent Montana experience. Absolutely one of our best hunting trips ever. Will definitely return. Thank you Joe Naby

We really enjoyed having Joe and his two sons come hunt our property. One of his sons was able to get his first elk. They harvested 3 elk and one mule deer buck between them. They were easy and pleasant to interact with throughout.

We couldn't be happier with Felix! He is such a great guy, additionally his mother as we got to talk with her several times during our stay. We enjoyed the stay. We battled the weather a little with warmer temperatures at the beginning of our stay, some fog in the middle and teens with negative windchills at the end. We did have a herd of elk on property the first day and managed to harvest one mature bull. The elk moved off for the rest of the time we were there. We were able to harvest 2 mule deer bucks also. We did see a herd of antelope the first morning of hunting. The fields and coulees look like they should have game in them and make for some picturesque views while glassing for game. The simple cabin provided all we need for our stay and added to the atmosphere of it being a hunting trip. I would especially like to thank Felix and his mom for their hospitality during our trip, it truly was memorable!

Had an absolutely amazing time at Tobin Creek Ranch! The whole ranch is incredibly beautiful in the summer with breathtaking views of the valley and the Crazy Mountains behind. The cabin was very nice and perfect for what we needed! We were there for the birding and had a great time! Had great looks at ruffed grouse, red crossbill, evening grosbeak, dusky grouse and much more! although we didn't see them Felix said he commonly sees Gray or Hungarian Partridge. Here is my checklist https://ebird.org/checklist/S114495785 Felix was very welcoming and super helpful! Had an perfect trip! Also witnessed one of the best sun sets I have ever seen

Felix G. embodies “Gemutlichkeit”, which is a good thing, given his Germanic origins. Approachable, hospitable, responsive, and helpful on both ends of the hunt. That’s only a partial profile. The remainder is equally on the plus-side. The recently constructed and tidy cabin is furnished appropriately for a hunt. It’s only partially electrified, a feature that’s a ‘plus’. It’s perched on the slope of a ravine through which courses Tobin Creek, I presume. An adventure in its access. Truck ownership recommended, as are chains, given the season’s vagaries. As for the hunt: Extend your hand with down-turned palm. Your fingers are the land/feeding-grounds and the spaces between are the ravines where critters spend the bulk of their time. My son and I hunted the season’s last days. We saw no elk, although a trio of bulls had died on the place only recently. Late on the first of our planned, three-day stay, I passed on a full-bodied fork-horn mulie in bad, rapidly dying light. I had hopes for a bigger brother before our time expired and didn’t wish to risk protracted tracking, in the dark or on the next day, in rigorous and expansive open-country. Proved to be my only opportunity. My son, however, shot a likely post-coital pair (a story for another time) of youngish mulies the next morning. Felix responded promptly to my son’s request to assist in their retrieval from the sharply-sloped ravine into which, after having been shot on the high ground, they’d fled and died. Felix arrived at the wheel of a winch-furnished and treaded side-by-side. The sled hooked to the cable’s end brought the first carcass to the ravine’s rim. But Felix had had to descend to its bottom to help my son carry the kill up the slope to the point where the sled had stopped at its mid-point of travel. Forty feet of cable has its limit. Felix drove the cat over the snow-drifted edge of this same ravine to retrieve the second, which had died some distance away from the first. The cat and it’s three occupants returned to the high ground only after extended travel to the place where the ravine met a plain well to the southwest of where the cat had nosed-in. It’s that kind of terrain. The mule-deer numbers we glassed the third morning, all beyond the fence-line on private ground, one group of seven tightly-bunched and on-the-move in a forest of mature sage, attest to the area’s population. At least for 2022.

Great property and location, everything that was promised was delivered. Comfortable and clean cabin with plenty of room to stretch out. The owner met us and went over the property boundaries and basic rules (leave gates how you find then etc.) and where to expect to find game. I was only able to hunt one afternoon and the next morning but we got into deer right near the cabin (partner missed) that evening and found a good bunch of elk on the upper portion the next morning where the owner told us to keep and eye on, couldn't get a shot on the 6x6 bull before he gave us the slip but could easily have shot several cows. All in all it is a special property and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good place to stay and hunt in that area. On a side note, we went to the Clyde Park Tavern (about 20 minutes from the cabin) for dinner and to watch football, great meal and several big screens, bartenders name is Castle, nice lady, took good care of us.
