Vassar Ranch Montana
Baker, Montana, United States
6,860 Acres
This 6,860 acre property in Eastern Montana has a plethora of opportunity for mule deer, whitetail and antelope! 300 acres are exclusive hunting access, 6,580 in block management but you have exclusive hunting for deer and antelope (people may be on the block management but can only hunt birds and prairie dogs). After serving in the military for many years, John Vassar bought this ranch 27 years ago, fulfilling his dream of running a cattle ranch.
With Little Beaver Creek running right through the ranch, the land is a host for cottonwood bottoms, as well as many draws and coulees throughout. Additionally, parts of Hidden Water Creek and Porcupine Creek run seasonally through the property, providing excess water sources for wildlife. To one side, the land runs adjacent along some of the Badlands, while the remainder of the ranch is grassland and range land. Parts of Beaver Creek are much lower in elevation, having created a canyon over the years, you can see many whitetail and mule deer down there. The mule deer are also found in the back draws in the more remote places of the ranch. Meanwhile, antelope like to spend time in the hay meadows or on the higher ground.
Camping is allowed on the property with a few great spots along the creek. Sportsmen must clean up everything brought in. Alternatively, Baker, MT is located about 20 miles away, with seven of those miles being on dirt road. Baker offers plenty of lodging and dining arrangements.
There is no minimum number of days you must book, the maximum is two weeks.
