Originally purchased 18 years ago, these 123 acres of wilderness have been preserved for the purpose of sharing the extraordinary beauty of nature which is especially unique for Eastern Nebraska. Varying throughout a network of canyons, wild grasslands, and sections of forest, this land has something to offer anyone.
With steep canyon walls and rugged terrain making up most of the topography, my wife and I have worked hard to build trails throughout the property for visitors to easily access and enjoy all that the land has to offer. These trails trickle across the fields & woodlands, around the top rim of canyon walls, and down into Maple Creek Canyon, offering a plethora of options for recreational activities.
With cropland surrounding the preserved wilderness, deer are frequently drawn to the area. Meanwhile, a healthy population of wild turkeys frolic about the fields, offering the potential for great success in the hunting season. We feature tree stands off & on, and hunters are encouraged to bring their own.
Maple Creek Canyon is a drug-free and alcohol-free property. We hope that our visitors will care for and respect the land as much as we do and leave it the way it was found. Please inquire about availability of on-site overnight lodging at Maple Creek Canyon. Schuyler is only 13 miles away on a 4-lane highway, with a variety of friendly overnight lodging and dining accommodations.

While visiting Maple Creek Canyon I saw signs of deer everywhere. Scrapes, rubs, beaten paths, were scattered all over the property. The Maple Creek running through the middle of the property offers a great source of water during the drought we are experiencing.

4.9I had a great trip to Maple Creek Canyon. Paul took the time when I arrived to show me around and how to access the property. I was only able to stay a couple days, but I seen deer everyday and I was able to harvest my first whitetail buck. This is a great property and an even better land owner! I will be booking again with Paul.
Reviewed by Guest on November 2024I could tell that Jeremy is a skillful Archery Hunter. So it didn’t surprise me when he shot his first Whitetail buck on his first day at Whitetail Heaven in Maple Creek Canyon. Jeremy was very respectful and considerate while he parked his camper on our 40 foot concrete camper pad. When he left the grounds, he wrapped up the hundred foot cable that I ran out to the camper pad, put it in the shed, and locked up the shed and the house tight. We look forward to having Jeremy back again.

Had another amazing hunt on this property. I was able to harvest my first Nebraska Turkey on opening day. As awaits, Paul was very gracious in keeping me posted on animal movements and showed genuine interest in my experience. Paul’s generosity and kindness definitely embodies what Nebraskans are all about.
Reviewed by Guest on April 2024 Paul was a fantastic host. He greeted us upon our arrival and was very excited to have us there. He gave us a tour of the property and gave us hints of where turkeys had been seen. The property is beautiful and would have been worth the trip by itself. The hunting there is very challenging which I like. We were successful with our harvest and felt we really worked hard for it. Paul was as excited as we were with the harvest. This was our first Midwest hunting experience and are looking forward to doing it again. The population of birds was just fine. Thank you for everything Paul! We are very honored to have you as a new friend!

I took my 9 and 13 yr old daughters to Paul's place to turkey hunt. We stayed onsite in his camper and my wife came and we made it a family trip. Paul has a beautiful farm. Everything you think about when Turkey hunting Nebraska. The hunting was tough as the birds were henned up and they go out into both creek drainages on the neighboring property during the day after flydown and come back in the late afternoon. Paul has the roost site for sure as we had all kinds of birds gobbling like crazy. It took me our time there to figure out what they do once they flydown and shutup. We didnt get to hunt as much as planned either as my brakes went out on my truck as soon as we got there so I spent most of our 2 whole days running for parts and fixing my brakes so we could get home. Our hunts consisted for a few hours in morning and evening. That didnt help us either. Paul was great in helping me get to town and get parts and giving me his truck to use while mine was down. We had an issue with the heat in camper and he was great about getting us some electric heaters. Paul was a great host. We would have liked to get the girls a bird but it just wasnt meant to be with what the birds were doing and my truck debacle. I would love to take them back there and try again sometime. Maybe later in the year when the wind doesnt blow and the toms arent so henned up and we can hunt more during the day . From what I saw driving around he has the biggest roost for a mile or so. Paul and his wife were great people and treated us all like family when we were there!
Reviewed by Guest on April 2023I just love hosting families when they stay for several days and nights, taking the time to relax and get familiar with our lodging facilities, trails, and the complex ecosystems in the private wilderness at Maple Creek Canyon. Josh and his family of four stayed in our deluxe Grand Design travel trailer right on -premises. Although the adults did not hunt, Josh and his wife brought their 9 and 13 year old daughters out here to sharpen their turkey hunting skills over the opening weekend of Nebraska’s Youth Season. Although the girls did not make any kills, they got up early every morning and learned how to observe the daily movement of turkeys in the habitat from their father, who is also an outfitter on family hunting property in Illinois. Returning to camp from their evening hunts, they would light up a robust campfire in a fire pit and cook some meats and marshmallows under the starlit sky. Mechanical problems actually enhanced my friendship with Josh when we made a trip into town together to get some brake pads for his truck. Our Amazon Parrot and the 9 year old daughter exchanged a lot of laughter for when she gave him a bath with a spray bottle one day. We very much enjoyed the privilege of witnessing an extended Easter weekend of character building, for this wholesome and spirited family from Illinois.

Reviewed by Guest on December 2022 Very nice piece of property with creek running through it Paul was very helpful with property layout the property has lots of good sign for deer holding up in and traveling through shot a decent 9 opening morning and my friend saw 6 different bucks that she couldn't get a shot at because of the brush and chasing does otherwise great piece of hunting property forsure!
Reviewed by Guest on November 2022It amazes me to witness the skill level of various guests at Maple Creek Canyon. God gives each hunter special gifts. On the day before the Nebraska Whitetail rifle opener, I was giving an extensive guided tour of our complex terrain opertunities. Jade carefully scrutinized each site, instantly scrambling to the top of a tall tree, with no climbing gear, to scope things out. Sure enough, 15 minutes before the sun peaked over the horizon on opening day, Jade had bagged a very handsome buck from his perch, high in a tree overlooking the canyon.

My friend and I traveled from NY to Nebraska to turkey hunt at Maple Creek. Paul was great on keeping me informed of the turkey population and what the birds tend to do in the area. Paul was also receptive to our hunting strategies and willing to give us a layout of the land. My friend and I were able to harvest two long beards and a Jake. It appears the turkeys are a young population with great potential for the next few years. Overall, my experience at Maple Creek Canyon was excellent and expectations were met.
Reviewed by Guest on April 2022Mark and Mason are two avid hunters who drove all the way from New York to Maple Creek Canyon, hoping to get a shot at the beautiful variety of Nebraska turkeys at Maple Creek Canyon. I gave them a complete 8 mile tour on Friday afternoon. But they didn’t want me driving in too far so as not to spook the birds. We could see several wild turkeys from a distance. Early Saturday morning these able-bodied young men quietly hiked in the dark to a remote area where the turkeys roost. At sunup, my wife and I heard 3 pops. A few minutes later I received the following message: “We are very grateful for this opportunity to hunt you’re beautiful land. The limit is three turkeys per person in Nebraska. There are definitely a lot of birds on you’re property. It was an amazing hunt. I killed two male turkeys and mason killed one. We are headed west to try to find some more to hunt.”

Reviewed by Guest on October 2022Eric and his 17-year-old son were very respectful and friendly during their 6 day bow hunt for Whitetail Deer at Maple Creek Canyon. Since they stayed in our Grand Design Camper right on the property, they got to know the topography and habitat really well. They donned waterproof boots, strapped portable tree stands on their backs, and stalked game all over our rugged terrain. It was fun watching them on our game cameras, chasing a coyote that was chasing a deer. The best part was witnessing their tight father-son relationship. LandTrust brings us quality hunters of exemplary character. We are honored to offer the unique experience of a week-long Maple Creek Canyon adventure in Eastern Nebraska!

Good property, plenty of game, just couldn’t get a mature buck to present me an opportunity of a harvest. North property is a little difficult to get to as well as the west side of the creek. Paul was great to work with and will most likely be back.
