Block Family Ranch
The Block Family Ranch is a family ranching operation consisting of just over 960 acres of prime Nebraska mule deer country. Our habitat is primarily pasture and grassland with draws, several deeep canyons with cedar trees, One large tree belt with excellent access. In addition, we also farm rye and oat on parts of the ranch, and those fields have been known to be a major food source for mule deer cruising through.
We are located in the Buffalo Mule Deer Conservation Area, which requires a tag to be drawn for nonresidents to hunt either rifle or archery. Nebraska residents can bowhunt an MDCA with their normal statewide archery tag, but out-of-state residents must draw a tag to be able to hunt with firearms. No muzzleloader hunting is permitted in the Buffalo MDCA.
This Fall, we'll be offering an archery mule deer hunt and a rifle mule deer hunt. Mule tail deer are more prevelant than white tail deer.
Lodging is available in our ranch bunkhouse cabin, which features a double bed, a double futon, and two single beds in the loft. Our accommodations are rustic and comfortable, and we're here to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible!
We are also excited to be offering a 2-day birding experience with lodging in our bunkhouse. The ranch is home to abundant bird species and serves as a sanctuary for both migratory and resident populations of birds. In the spring you can watch native prairie chickens do their "Booming" dance in one of two locations.
We are located in the southwestern corner of Nebraska's Custer County, just north of Gothenburg and Interstate 80. We look forward to hosting you!

Very cool property! Didn’t see any mule deer, however, the property screams mule deer country! Lots of canyons, draws, and folds for those things to hide in! Sign was everywhere. John mentioned folks having lots of success in past years.

I met the landowners the evening prior to my hunt. They showed me all around the property. Informed we of what they had been seeing. With all their help I was able to be successful. They are really good folks. I will be looking to visit again when possible.

The block family are awesome people. They are very welcoming on to their property. We did see Turkey we just never could get them to come in to our setup. We had a lot of fun and are planning on going back.
