Hawk Creek Bluffs
Welcome to the Bull Mountains!
Located in Musselshell County, our fifth-generation family ranch has 3,550+ acres of big country about an hour and twenty minutes from Billings. Established in 1882, our operation has evolved from a traditional cow/calf outfit into a yearling-focused ranch, with a commitment to stewardship and practical land management.
The terrain features wind-carved breaks, timbered draws, and twisting coulees with a mix of native grasses and open pasture. Seasonal ponds, springs, livestock tanks, and the Hawk Creek all provide consistent water sources.
Trails and ranch roads make it easy to navigate the varied terrain, whether you’re glassing ridgelines or working the draws.
The ranch represents Montana HD 590, part of the Bull Mountains/Pine Ridge area. This is a general unit for Mule Deer Bucks and Either-Sex Whitetails. This is a draw unit for Bull Elk. Shoulder season is open for general tag holders or folks with an over the counter elk B tag.
Bulls use the cover of the timbered breaks and coulees during the heat of the day, moving through our open pasture and water sources in the early mornings and late afternoons. Mule deer are commonly spotted in the bluffs, using the draws and brushy terrain for bedding.
Upland hunters can hunt huns and sharpies in the ranch’s native grasslands, brushy cover, and creekbottoms. Turkey sightings are hit or miss enough that we won't be offering a package.
Varmint and predator hunting is encouraged, offering a dynamic opportunity to pursue coyotes and other predators while helping to protect livestock.
We look forward to hosting you!
