Heart Rock Ranch
The Heart Rock Ranch is a 205-acre working ranch located right on the Teton River, just west of Loma. We currently have sheep on the ranch and a guard donkey named "Honkey." This area of Montana is idyllic, featuring the confluence of the Teton River and the Marias River and also the confluence of the Marias into the Missouri River. Learn more about our town, Loma, MT.
Our acreage consists of two different habitat compositions. First, in the southern half of the property, we have river access on the Teton in addition to riparian woodland. We also have a small plot of ag ground, which is a hot spot for game. Second, in the northern half of the ranch, we have coulees, sage brush, and grassy hills. The ranch also borders 5,400+ acres of BLM lands.
We will frequently see flocks of turkeys of about 50 birds at a time. Numbers are good, making this an excellent spot reasonably close to Great Falls (~45 minutes) to bag a Merriam! Spring Turkey Season runs from April 15 to May 31. Turkey License can be purchased over the counter for both residents and non-residents.
Ranch features attract good numbers of both White Tail and Mule Deer. Numerous tree stands in riparian woods and deep coulees make for good ambush hunting positions for both archery and rifle hunts.

During my visit with Todd I saw several flocks of turkeys running around. In the higher ground, there was also a small group of deer that we spooked. Nice little campspot as well.

Incredibly beautiful property with loads of turkey sign. Todd was very detailed leading up to my arrival. The property is well managed for turkey and has everything you’d want in a turkey spot. Tom’s remained on the adjacent property for the duration of my hunt so no luck, but I have no doubt there are days when you’d be covered up in turkey. I’d love to go back when their patterns change.

Todd could not have been more accommodative and genuinely went out of his way to ensure we had nothing less than a great experience on his property. He was very responsive and was truly invested in our success. Property held an abundance of deer, varying in maturity and species. It offered many natural pinch points for shooting opportunities across multiple levels of elevation. Would highly recommend.

Todd has a beautiful little place. Not a ton of land, but some good river bottoms with access on both sides. He was really nice and very helpful. Did see turkeys and saw quite a few in the whole valley. Had a great time.

By far the easiest landowner to deal with in my 30 plus years of hunting. Hunting involves risks and this is a relative new turkey spot and they changed their pattern and moved down a few farms the day before we got there. Place is great and you have the ability to see the entire property from vantage point, which is an amazing or dishearten benefit. Easy scouting and ability to know where turkeys are. With that said, no turkeys on the farm when we hunted. Absolutely nothing you can do about that. They were in the ballpark but early season you’re at the mercy of hens and their patterns. Clearly as an experience turkey hunter I know unpredictability of turkeys. Predators, breeding habits, weather, etc can change patterns in heartbeat. Todd’s property has a ton of potential and tomorrow those flocks could be back! Just the way it goes. With good management nothing but good things for this property. I look forward to see this from year to year and week to week.

Greetings from Todd and Petra, owner/operators of Heart Rock Ranch, in Loma Montana. We specialize in raising hair sheep for the premium lamb meat that they produce. We also keep cattle, pigs, chickens, turkey and geese. We are blessed to live and raise our two boys in this special place that has so much to offer.
Todd is an avid hunter and fisherman and the boys are not far behind. We enjoy hunting whitetail and muleys with both rifle and archery. This area has also provided us with exciting hunts for wild turkey, pheasant, sharptail grouse as well as ducks and geese. The Missouri river is nearby via dirt road access. We regularly head out on the jet boat to catch Walleye, and Northern Pike. Simply put, we are living our dream in this wonderful place.
We enjoy sharing this slice of heaven with family and friends who visit often and have recently come to share it with LandTrust hunters as well. It has been a 100% positive experience to host and we have found LT hunters to be fantastic people.
We hope that you will visit us and enjoy Loma as much as we do,
Todd and Petra
