Mahlstedt Ranch | Upper
Hunt Monster Mule Deer and other Big Game at Mahlstedt Ranch.
We are excited to open our Eastern parcels for your enjoyment. With 4,650+ acres of private access combined with over 1,300 acres of BLM and state lands, our property is the perfect destination for your next Montana Big Game hunt.
Lodging is available in our guest house, we call it Jord's House. It can be added on to your package upon checkout.
We highly recommend that you also book a ranch tour for your party. This will ensure that we have ranch personnel available to show you the area, and best access & locations for your hunting.
The Mahlstedt Ranch is located at the foot of the Divide between the Missouri & Yellowstone drainages on the west side. Homesteaded in 1912, our family cattle and Quarter Horse operation features brush and creek bottoms and moderate badlands. We farm to raise feed for our livestock so birds and wildlife also benefit from the grains.
If you're interested in hunting our other LandTrust listing, please visit our Lower listing for private access to 5,700+ acres: Mahlstedt Ranch Lower
Seclusion in the Badlands
Our property is also a great location for outdoor recreation opportunities. We are always open to new ideas for ways that people can enjoy our property. If you don't see your desired activity, please click the "Contact Tana" button, and we'd be happy to see if we can accommodate you.
Tana will direct guests who book any of our farm & ranch/outdoor rec packages to a specific area of the ranch. These packages are not available during the hunting season, and can be booked here: Seclusion in the Badlands
If more time is needed for deer retrieval on the day following the package end, there will be a base fee of $200 for half-day access ending at noon on that day. Only if no other hunting parties are already scheduled on the premises.
If any of the party need help from Mahlstedt Ranch in retrieving animals, humans, or vehicles, there will be a base fee of $200/hr for help from 1 person and 1 vehicle from Mahlstedt Ranch.
We look forward to hosting you!
Sincerely,
Tana with Montana Moments, LLC

Mahlstedt's Big Game on the Divide is an incredible place. Coulees, timber, seasonal water and livestock tanks, it has it all! Great place to chase mule deer, and maybe an elk every now and then.

We enjoyed our time at this beautiful ranch. The accommodations were comfortable, well appointed and located in a very scenic, remote area of the ranch that was perfect for our bird hunt. We saw a good population of a wide variety of game on the ranch including WT deer, mule deer, antelope, and turkeys. The owners (very nice family ) we appropriately available if needed.

This is a beautiful rugged working Ranch. House was nice and supplied with all the essentials. Views are outstanding and the bird hunting was good. Sharptail everywhere! Pheasants were mixed thru out the property, huns were a little harder but the coveys were very good size. Tana was very helpful even though we were there during a very busy few days. If you are looking for a remote country hunt this is a good option. Lots of driving on the ranch roads and we averaged more than 8 miles walking per day hunting.
