Sauby Ranch
The Sauby Ranch is a prime waterfowl hunting location based in the Prairie Pothole Region of North Dakota. Our land is made up of several lakes and ponds with sloughs and rolling grasslands. In addition to our abundant wetland areas, we also grow hay on our cropland.
In total we have about 1,760 acres of ground, spread across three non-contiguous parcels. These parcels are situated in between Jamestown and Carrington a few miles west of US Highway 52. Our southernmost and biggest parcel is about 1,125 acres and also features one of our lodging options on the property: the ranch cabin.
Our cabin has heat, electricity, and a mini fridge, and can comfortably sleep three guests. Pets are permitted inside. The cabin does not have any running water, trash area, or bathroom. The cabin is available for $50 per night.
Our other lodging option is our guest house in Carrington, which is about 20 miles away from the property. The guest house can comfortably accommodate six guests or more if guests are willing to bring cots or extra sleeping pads. The guest house is available for $200 per night.
The ranch should be a great destination for waterfowl hunting and birdwatching. Our packages are set up with options to book the ranch cabin, Carrington guest house, or the daily rate with no lodging.
Guests should also know that there are some great public access areas for jumbo perch and walleye fishing in our area.
The ranch is conveniently located less than 20 miles off the Interstate. We are about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Fargo and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Bismarck.

Sauby Ranch has rolling grasslands with pothole sloughs all throughout the property. I saw a plethora of geese, mallards, gadwall, widgeon, redhead, pintail, and other diver ducks.

The Sauby Ranch was a great place for me and the two guys hunting with me. The landscape diversity was ideal for waterfowl and pheasant hunting, winter storm hit and all the ducks we could stand rolled in. Their hospitality is amazing, as well as their facilities. Great place to hunt I would highly recommend it.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2023David R & friends, we really enjoyed having this group of guys from SC. They were friendly & so polite, Fred had several conversations with them. They were very respectful of the property & of course we would welcome them back!! They did well with the duck hunting, but winter weather came & they weren’t prepared for ND cold & snow!! They were anxious to get on the road, headed for a warmer climate!! K & F Sauby
