This is not a guided hunt. This package is for father/child, husband/wife, etc. duos that are bringing first-time or novice hunters to the ranch!
With exclusive access to the Higgins Ranch, this is the perfect destination for youth or novice hunters. We have a good amount of deer on the ranch, mostly whitetails with some mule deer. While we have a couple decent bucks, our population is mostly does and you most likely won't find a trophy buck.
For deer hunts, we ask that hunting parties have a minimum of two sportsmen and a maximum of three sportsmen.
Camping is permitted on the property. Please inquire to see if we can accommodate your RV.
The Higgins Ranch is a family-owned operation located in the heart of the Nebraska Sandhills. With roughly 13,000 acres, this multi-generational ranch is a treasure, featuring vast grasslands with shelterbelts scattered throughout, along with a couple small ponds and waterways. The ranch also has sections of low-lying meadows that turn into seasonal wetlands, attracting all forms of wildlife.
The Goose Creek also runs through the western portion of the property.
Local lodging options, as well as restaurants and grocery stores, can all be found in Valentine (44 miles) or Thedford (30 miles).

Lovejoy Ranch is a sixth-generation working cattle ranch owned and operated by Bob and Jody Dexter. We are nestled in the north-central region of the unique grass-covered dunes of the Sandhills, just a short 20-minute drive to Valentine, Nebraska.
Cattle grazing through proper grass management provides wildlife with perfect habitat. Whitetail and mule deer can be found across the ranch in the hills and around the tree claim shelterbelts. The Evergreen Creek flows East through the land, providing water to various ponds, creating a natural environment for wildlife. El Lake, the beginning of the Evergreen Creek, is a small lake stocked with an abundance of bass, northern pike, and bluegill.
The Ranch has RV and tent camping available, but hotel lodging is available in a short drive. Valentine is a small town at the junction of two major US Highways, 20 and 83. You can find just about anything you need here— there are two gun stores, a bait shop, a grocery store, etc.
Although we don't have a minimum for days booked in a trip, we highly recommend booking multiple days to take full advantage of what our ranch can offer! Our family has had great success hunting the ranch and we look forward to sharing this with other sportsmen!

Calamus West

This unit is located in the central part of the state and boasts a strong deer population along with diverse terrain. Compared to many other units, public land is more accessible, but hunters should still conduct thorough research to ensure a successful outing. Mule deer are present in good numbers, particularly in the open prairie, but they can also be found near agricultural areas. Gaining access to private land may be the biggest challenge for hunters; however, hunting on these properties greatly enhances the likelihood of success.
