We have a great mixture of deer habitat: dense tree cover, ample food sources in the row crop, and marshy areas in the bottoms.
We primarily see whitetail on the farm; however, sportsmen can hunt mule deer as well. Mule deer are not as commonly seen on the property though.
About us:
The Ackles Family Farm is a hidden gem of a property just south of the town of Ord, NE. We have a great compilation of habitat for deer and turkeys with agricultural cropland, primarily alfalfa. Our alfalfa fields and other areas of row crop make for great feeding ground, while on the southern end of the farm, hunters take advantage of our lush and marshy bottom ground. We also have a portion of pasture ground on the farm with cattle. We ask that all guests be respectful and considerate of the cattle.
The Ord-North Loup Canal flows through the property as well.
Our mule deer population can be pretty hit and miss here at the farm, so if you book, please understand that you will most likely encounter whitetails.
Please inquire with any questions, and we look forward to your visit!
Lodging and Dining
We do not provide any lodging on the property. Camping may be allowed with a purchase of a hunt. The town of Ord, NE is a few miles to the northwest, and offers multiple lodging and dining options.

Loup East

This unit is situated in the central part of the state and offers outstanding deer habitat. The region mainly consists of agricultural fields, along with scattered mature hardwoods. While much of the area is private land, which can lead to access challenges, it also supports strong herd health and promotes antler growth. There are also considerable undeveloped lands, especially in the west, that provide excellent opportunities for spot-and-stalk hunting.
