Minnesota Turkey Seasons
These dates represent the “general” season dates. Check the individual hunting unit regulations for the most accurate season dates and regulations.
Spring
–
Youth hunters
Youth hunters age 17 and younger may hunt statewide for the entire spring season (April 15 - May 31) with firearms or archery equipment. Youth archery turkey hunters may hunt for all spring turkey time-periods. See page 37 for youth license requirements.
Spring Archery

Archery-only license holders may use crossbows. Hunters cannot purchase both a firearms and archery-only license. Youth archery turkey hunters may hunt for all spring turkey time-periods.
Spring Firearms
–
Firearms hunters may also use crossbows or vertical bows but may only hunt during their selected time-period or the final time-period (F - May 20-31). Hunters cannot purchase both a firearms and archery-only license. Firearms hunters who do not tag a turkey in their selected time-period may also hunt the final hunt time-period (F - May 20-31). Hunters possessing a valid permit to hunt from a standing motor vehicle may purchase a spring turkey license for any firearms season time-period and hunt all spring turkey periods.

Firearms hunters 18 and over must draw a permit in the lottery to hunt the Carlos Avery or Whitewater Wildlife Management Areas during the A time-period. Applications may be made online, by telephone (888) 665-4236, or in-person wherever hunting licenses are sold. Successful applicants may also hunt statewide and are not required to stay in their selected WMA. Archery-only hunters and hunters 17 and younger may access these areas without winning the lottery.
