Goose Creek Ranch

Yoder, Colorado • 320 Acres
I met Jill’s son, Adam on my way into the property, and he was very helpful to orient and point me to the SouthEast corner of the property where the prairie dog colony is located. There were a dozen or more prairie dogs on the property and I shot many of them. You must be careful because the prairie dog colony along the South fence borders a buffalo ranch, and the herd was just on the other side of the fence the first day I hunted this property. I was setup on the hill, with hundreds of yar...

Ryan showed us a few nice dove hunting spots when we arrived and said he had plenty more. We didn’t need any other spots—the hunting was great. I especially appreciated Ryan texting to make sure we were in a safe place during a severe thunderstorm/tornado warning. We hope to hunt there again in the future!

I definitely had an opportunity at 100 yards, not my comfort zone for archery, but it was fun. Definitely saw game passing through the property: deer, pronghorn, jackrabbit, coyote, and a lot of game poop all around. Hopefully, I can come back in rifle season in the future!

Plenty of opportunities on this property. The terrain is open rolling hills, and not a ton of cover. The adjacent property had more vegetation cover. Also had great help from the rancher on the property. This was a difficult hunt with archery tags. We did successfully harvest a buck with some luck. Mostly spot and stalk, but could get lucky if the area hasn’t had precipitation in a while, and sitting over water. All in all, we enjoyed our time on this property and in this unit.

Video of a flock of turkeys on the ranch last week. I heard that fall turkey permits in unit 15 went on sale. We aren’t seeing any elk yet. Still a couple weeks until the time we normally see them. Excited for the Fall!

While we're excited for the Fall, thought I'd share what a typical Spring looks like here at the ranch! Despite GMU 15 being a draw for turkey, we are LOADED with longbeards! If you draw a tag, keep us in mind!!

Ryan was great! He explained everything, showed us around the two properties. We had plenty of of dogs to shoot, however the weather did not cooperate. We had good shooting till about lunch when the rain came. That is a rarity for the area. Would definitely hunt with Ryan again.
