With 415 acres of irrigated meadows, winding creek bottom, and open hay fields, this property is a PRIME local spot for hunters in the area looking for a productive property with high potential.
The Crow Creek winds through the center of the property for over a mile, creating a lush corridor of willows and sheltering cover that holds both deer and upland birds. Irrigation ditches feed the meadows and keep the surrounding habitat rich in forage. The hay fields are edged by brushy boundaries and stacked bales.
We are excited to offer the heart of our working cattle ranch to respectful sportsmen to enjoy nature's peaceful solitude for a day or two!

Upland bird hunting is available as well in addition to small game and predators.
Block Management Access is free and open to the public, so if you come out here to hunt, there may be other hunters out here, but by staying with us on the ranch you'll have a big leg up on other hunters who are trying to get out to the ranch before light. You can wake up right on the ranch and start your hunt.&nbsp;
We do have rattlesnakes out here, so please be cautious.

The olive trees along the river and our hayfields are a hotspot for our pheasant and grouse numbers!&nbsp;
Hunters may have some luck working the grass if there's no action down by the river. Cover is much more limited north of the highway as it's wide open country out there, so hunters should be aware of that. Our 8,600 acres north of the highway is surrounded by various pieces of BLM, State, and BMA lands.&nbsp;
Bird dogs are more than welcome!
With just over 15,600 acres in total, this is a vast ranch with lots of open ground north of the highway and hayfields adjacent to riverbottom south of the highway. We are located less than an hour north of Billings.
About the Ranch:
The original ranch stockright was established in 1882, making us the 3rd oldest ground ranched in the Musselshell area. We work the ranch with our sons, growing hay on the side as well. We love our piece of Montana, and we're excited to share it with you!

This is a 5th Generation Ranch in the foothills of Valley County near Hinsdale, Montana. The ranch was started in 1909 by Harry Rutter, a true Montana pioneer. A visit to the ranch here in the Milk River Valley will help one experience the rich history of the land.
This property is also host to another piece of history with teepee rings and a buffalo jump.

This package allows access to harvest pheasants and other upland birds on the property. We'll be able to give you advice on where to go on the property and how to hunt each area.&nbsp;
We have a huge amount of birds this year, much higher than we have had previously.
Abundant amount of food sources for the wildlife including alfalfa fields, wheat, lentil, and canola seeded crops. We also have a total of five different expired CRP fields that we left to grass to add extra cover and food for wildlife.
There are two different creeks that flow through the property, including one that runs year round on a normal year. A total of 4 dams/ponds, along with 3 solar-powered livestock tanks. Spring Valley community didn't get its name for nothing, many of the field waterways hold sloughs for wildlife to also get an afternoon drink.
The properties include six homesteads that are lined with thick shelter belts to provide cover for the wildlife. The pasture and range lands also over many draws for the birds and deer to get out of the Montana winds.&nbsp;
Spring Valley Ranch is located on the Fort Peck Reservations and hunters are NOT required to purchase a Montana license but rather licenses online or over the counter through the Fort Peck Tribes Fish &amp; Game. Licenses for upland birds and pheasant are available yearly for out-of-state and Montana residents.

E C Ranch East consists of about 650 acres situated right on the Yellowstone River. We are located just outside the Glendive city limits. The property is mostly irrigated cropland with heavily wooded areas along the river. We also have just over a hundred acres of island ground on the Yellowstone.&nbsp;
We don't have lodging available on the property; however, Glendive has some reasonably-priced options for hotels and aribnbs.

We are proud to be a 3rd-Generation Family cow/calf operation based here in Central Montana's Judith Basin County. In addition to running cattle, we also do some haying and other farming.&nbsp;
Our ranch is located in a very scenic part of the Judith Basin with the Little Belts to the southwest and the Big Snowy Mountains farther to the southeast. A stretch of the Judith River runs through our pasture and irrigated hay ground, to make for a lush haven for wildlife in our area. The Ackley Lake Feeder Canal, a hotspot for waterfowl, also runs through the ranch.

Upland Bird Hunt | Tall Grass & Farmland in Central Montana

The ranch offers a ton of ground, just under 4,000 acres, for you and bird dogs to work. Bird populations are plentiful here, plus habitat is varied and amenable for wildlife. The ranch is uniquely situated to offer grassland and open space near the lower areas of the ranch, while the upper areas consist of more mountainous timber and draws.
Opportunity for pheasants and huns, with grouse as well on the upper roads/paths in the high ground.

Right in the middle of upland bird country, our ranch and remodeled homestead cabin are nestled in the Big Bend West of the Flathead River on the Flathead Indian Reservation. The cabin has 2 bedrooms plus a loft with a bed and a privacy curtain. It also has an unattached guest room. The cabin does NOT have a landline or wifi, but there is cell service, although the weather can limit this at times. There is a corral for guests to use if they would like to bring their own horses. This ranch is home to black bears, mule deer and about 600 head of elk. Guests will have access to explore the entire ranch and enjoy amazing views of wildlife in their natural setting as well as some old homestead sites. While this is not a "dude ranch" it is a working ranch with everything done on horseback and the family would welcome you to observe the different activities that take place day to day. Branding season, gathering and sorting are especially great opportunities for photography. This "off the grid" vacation cabin is a dream destination for bird watchers and photographers. There have been returning great horned owls. It is also located right in the heart of a diligently maintained Mountain Blue Bird Trail. Along the 20 mile road to town, enjoy amazing views of the Flathead river as it cuts through the sheared off clay banks. Just 8 miles to the Flathead River fishing access Sloan's Bridge, this is also a popular put-in and take-out spot for rafters. Our guests find we are a perfect proximity to all of the attractions in the Flathead. Spend a day at the Bison Range and then another at Glacier Park. Make sure you check out the fishing and recreating on Flathead lake as well.&nbsp;
Traveling from Yellowstone to Glacier? We are the perfect stopping point between these 2 amazing national parks. The cabin is fully furnished and equipped with a dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, full size fridge/freezer, stove and bbq grill. It has all the bedding and towels and dishes needed for our guests. It includes a washer and dryer as well. Peaceful and remote. This cabin is a photographer's dream. 7 miles from a boat launch on the Flathead river, a popular fishing and floating access. 20 miles from the small, unique town of Hot Springs, "home of the healing waters." The town has several bath houses fed with the natural hot mineral water. As our guests, you will have acess to almost anywhere on the ranch to enjoy the beauty it has to offer. This is truly a rare experience to create lasting memories for you and your family.
The space
Be prepared to enjoy wildlife and observe the ranching experience. Our family is happy to show you around the main yard to see the animals in the corrals and answer questions about cattle ranching and the beef industry.
Guest access
We encourage our guests to explore as much of the ranch as they would like. Some areas may be limited depending on where the cattle are grazing at the time. Motorized vehicles must stay on the roads, but hiking is almost limitless. The guests also have use of a small corral at the cabin if they have their own horses.

Guests are invited to stay at the Hightail and hunt pheasant and huns on Roam Free Ranch.&nbsp;
Bird populations are plentiful here, with lots of ground to work with. The ranch is mostly grasslands with timbered areas and draws that can be found as you get into the ranch's higher elevations (~4,400-5,200 feet).
This package is a flat rate of $1,000 per day/night and includes meals and lodging for up to 4 guests. Included in this package is a stay in our historic homestead and an upland bird hunt.&nbsp;
