The property is split by Montana Highway 200, which is also a boundary for the big game hunting districts. The acreage north of the highway, about 1,000 acres, represents GMU 481 for antelope. The acreage south of the highway, about 1,900 acres, represents GMU 420 for antelope. 
The hunt can be really fun for bowhunters when we have the hay baled up! You can hunt both sides of the highway with a 900 archery tag.
The hay fields and livestock tanks are solid for antelope.
In addition to our private acres, we share multiple borders with State, BLM, and Block Management lands, which is good for additional access and for public pressure pushing wildlife onto the ranch.&nbsp;
The McDonald Creek, which is located on our acreage south of the highway, is a highly productive area for hunting, in addition to the timbered foothills that can be found south of the creek.

With water, food, and habitat readily available, the Kimmel Ranch has everything you need for a successful DIY antelope hunt!
Flat Willow Creek runs year-round and meanders throughout the ranch for about 2.5 miles. We see a lot of wildlife flock to this creek bottom. Up above, we have roughly 1,000 acres of scattered bull pine timber that provides great coverage. The rest is rolling grasslands with a bit of sagebrush. A lot of the grazing land is native grass, however we have introduced some western wheatgrass.&nbsp;
Our land is loaded with antelope. Previous hunters have been extremely successful with antelope on the land, they are pretty hard to miss!
My great grandpa bought this property back in 1953 as a cow/calf operation. Four generations later, I am helping to operate it in the same order. Kimmel Ranch consists of about 5,000 acres of private land, although we control a total of 10,000 acres of BLM and state land as well. We have implemented a fair amount of hay ground which the wildlife and birds appear to love.&nbsp;
The land is easily accessible with good roads going across the private land to get to the BLM land. Otherwise, you’re welcome to walk anywhere on the property. There are quite a few fences and gates, although they are very easy to open. We have tree stands and blinds up for deer and elk and we can easily help retrieve harvest if hunters wish for assistance.
We have plenty of space to park a camper/RV or pitch a tent. There is electricity at the house and we are happy to accommodate to make sure your experience is as enjoyable as possible. The nearest town of Roundup, MT is just 25 miles to the south with plenty of lodging and other amenities. There is no minimum or maximum number of days when booking, however we would like to cap hunters to groups of 3-4 for safety reasons.&nbsp;
We are happy to open access to our property for recreation and trust that visitors will be respectful of the land and leave it as they found it.&nbsp;

Kimmel Ranch

HD 420 Antelope Hunt | 5,000 Acres just over 1 Hr from Billings

We have three good herds of antelope that are here on the ranch all the way until winter sets in, at which point two of the three herds typically take off. There's good opportunity for hunters to harvest a buck. This is a good spot and stalk location, especially when we have the hay bails spread accross the fields. We have livestock tanks as well that would make good spots to set up a blind.

Gran Prairie

We will routinely see decent numbers of antelope in the open fields, both on the property and neighboring 320-acre BLM parcel. We have a livestock tank, in addition to a few draws and coulees that provide water and cover for antelope in the area.

The antelope in this region are typically found on private land. The population of antelope in this district has been impacted by a disease outbreak in 2009, and it has taken some time for the area to recover. However, the numbers are now stable and showing slight increases.
