This district is situated in the southwest region of the state, encompassing the eastern Tobacco Root Mountain range. Located south of the Jefferson River and northwest of Ennis, the Tobacco Roots feature steep and rugged terrain. Elk are abundant in this area, with good trophy potential for those using general tags. Most elk winter on private lands, making them largely inaccessible to hunters during the rifle season. Harvesting bulls is restricted to brow-tined bulls, which contributes to an older age class within this general district.
