We tend to see mostly mule deer; however, depending on the year, sportsmen may encounter more whitetail. Either way, this is a great option for a hunter with a general tag in 590, looking to get on deer with the rifle or bow. The ranch's habitat makes this a fun hunt with glassing spots and the chance to put a stalk on, giving the sense of backcountry hunt on 100 acres of solid private access.&nbsp;
The ranch features the following terrain and vegetation:

HD 590 Single Day Deer Hunt (Whitetail + Mule Deer) 

This is a great spot for mule deer hunters as good numbers will transition down from the bluffs down into the ag fields and creekbottom. In addition to our ag fields, we have wide open terrain with rolling grasslands with livestock tanks throughout. We have plenty of huntable draws as well, where deer like to hang out.
We are located in HD 702, which is a general tag for muley bucks.
Our family's west property is our homestead about 30 minutes outside of Billings. This is a great spot for mule deer, antelope, upland bird, and Merriam's turkeys. We ranch on just over 2,790 acres just a few minutes drive from the Pompeys Pillar area and Interstate 94.&nbsp;
About our Family:
We are newer to Eastern Montana as our family made the difficult decision to leave our family ranch in northcentral Montana, just north of Great Falls, where our family had lived and ranched for just over 98 years. Now, we are proud to call this area home after the learning curves that come with moving to and ranching in a different region of the Big Sky State.
This year, we are pleased to be offering hunting and recreation access to our 2,700+ acres. We are looking forward to sharing our land with respectful sportsmen and recreators. We've seen a lot of interest here at the ranch for mule deer, with our reasonably close proximity to Billings and the fact that 590 is a general unit for a buck.&nbsp;
To manage the deer numbers and ensure continued buck quality, we will be offering a limited number of hunts this year. We also ask that you do your best to harvest only mature bucks, 4pts or larger.
Habitat is awesome muley ground: draws, pine ridges, coulees, and grassland pasture.
Seasonal ranch reservoirs and livestock tanks are solid water sources for the deer. The Hawk Creek runs through the ranch as well.&nbsp;
Mule deer are commonly spotted in the bluffs, using the draws and brushy terrain for bedding.
Guests must book for the total number of members in their group, regardless of if they're planning on harvesting. This ensures all members participating in the hunt are covered for insurance purposes. Any wives, girlfriends, or children who won't be participating in the hunt are half-price. 
Located in Musselshell County, our fifth-generation family ranch has 3,550+ acres of big country about an hour and twenty minutes from Billings. Established in 1882, our operation has evolved from a traditional cow/calf outfit into a yearling-focused ranch, with a commitment to stewardship and practical land management.&nbsp;
The terrain features wind-carved breaks, timbered draws, and twisting coulees with a mix of native grasses and open pasture. Seasonal ponds, springs, livestock tanks, and the Hawk Creek all provide consistent water sources.&nbsp;

Unit 590 is located east of Billings and south of Roundup, and includes the Bull Mountains to the north of the Yellowstone River and Pine Ridge to the south of the river. The mule deer population in this unit is strong, although the numbers are lower than their historical highs. Mule deer can be found throughout the district and can be hunted with a general tag.
