Our elk population on the north place is more transient; however, the ranch has everything elk could want when it comes to habitat: Mountainous terrain in the highground, with hayfields in the low ground.
Bulls can be hunted with a general tag in HD 291, during archery, general, and muzzleloader seasons.

NO SHOULDER SEASON IN HD 291. Cows can be hunted on a general tag ONLY during archery season - please inquire if interested in an archery cow elk hunt. General &amp; Muzzleloader Season is a draw permit for cows. 
The 6C Cattle Ranch is a proud Montana farming and ranching operation about an hour east of Missoula! With a blend of working ranch ground, irrigated agriculture, mountain cover, and river frontage, the ranch offers a large-scale Montana hunting experience!
The North part of the ranch is 2,800+ acres comprised of grassland pasture, smaller hay fields, timbered mountains, and brush-filled draws. The Hoover Creek runs through the western portion of the parcel, while some scattered ponds/reservoirs and seasonal drainages provide water throughout the rest of the property.
This piece is particularly well-suited for deer hunting, with natural travel corridors connecting feed to cover. Elk use the ground as well, though deer activity tends to be more consistent across the varied terrain.
Camping is permitted on the property with no hookups, allowing hunters to stay close to where animals are feeding and traveling.

In HD 291, whitetail bucks can be hunted on a general tag all season. Inquire for doe availability - general tag holders can only harvest does during archery season. Muzzleloader and general rifle seasons are a Draw for does.
